It's based off the fact that most F1 fans will tell a non F1 fan that "ohh, an f1 car can drive on a ceiling at over 150mph from the downforce" So, I thought "hmm, what if an airline company took it seriously"

So the company and logo is a nod to Lufthansa, a huge german airline.

A couple years ago a Funny Car lost its right-side exhaust header about mid track, and the sudden exhaust re-direction launched the side of the car three feet into the air and into the wall pretty hard. It sucked 'cause the guy wasn't one of the most funded teams and he had to close shop afterwards, don't remember the guy's name though.

Not sure about how much downforce the exhaust produces, but it is definitely significant. I found the video of the Funny Car exhaust header fail. It almost flipped the car, and probably would have if the driver hadn't cut the throttle when he started to go over. The exhaust had enough force to screw up the body and blow the car sideways.

Any fluids or aerodynamics professor will tell you that racing is flying upside down, which is what I believe is going on here

Yep, that's the one, was the left side header apparently.

Side note, I always enjoy watching NHRA broadcasts from there 'cause they talk about weather constantly. Though for good reason, about two pairs after that the heavens opened up with the blackest sky I've ever seen. And it was always interesting to listen to Bob Frey give weather updates, you could tell he hates weather from the slight tremble in his voice.
